Meet The owner
Hello,
I am Dwain Gilzene, originally from St. Ann, Jamaica. My journey with food began at just 17 years old, when I started my culinary education. In 2010, I moved to Canada, bringing with me rich Caribbean flavors, deep cultural roots, and a natural love for hospitality.
In March 2018, I opened The Spice Joint Jamaican Café, creating a space where I could connect my culture with the local community and visitors alike. It was there that I discovered a new passion for coffee and genuine customer service.
In 2024, the café was rebranded as Estío—the Spanish word for summer, a reflection of Jasper's bustling season. This evolution represents the merging of my Caribbean background with my family’s Latin heritage.
